How to Use the AI On/Off Schedule in LeadTruffle

Learn how to schedule when your AI is active or inactive so your team can handle leads during business hours.

Why Use the AI On/Off Schedule?

By default, LeadTruffle’s AI responds to website texting leads 24/7. This is ideal for most businesses, but there are cases where you may want to pause the AI:

  • You have a human sales team working specific hours (e.g., Monday–Friday, 9–5).

  • You want leads captured during business hours but prefer your team to qualify them.

  • You want to send a simple “thank you” or scheduling link instead of AI-led qualification.

How to Set Up the AI On/Off Schedule

1. Access the Schedule Settings

  • In your LeadTruffle account, go to Website → SMS → AI Schedule.

  • Don’t see it? This is a feature flag — message us in Intercom and we’ll enable it for you.

2. Choose When the AI Should Be Off

  • Select the days (e.g., Monday–Friday).

  • Choose the time window (e.g., 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM).

  • Click + to add the schedule.

✅ The AI will now be off during those hours.

3. Set Date Overrides (Optional)

You can override your standard schedule for special cases. For example:

  • Normally, the AI is off 9–5.

  • But on August 22–23 (company retreat), you want the AI on.

  • Add a start and end date to override your normal schedule.

4. Decide What Happens When AI Is Off

When the AI is inactive, you should still send one initial message. Examples:

  • “Thanks for contacting Brian’s Appliance Center. Schedule here for an intro call.”

  • “Thanks for contacting Brian’s Appliance Center. Someone from our team will be calling you shortly.”

👉 On the Expert Plan (with Human Takeover), you can send:

  • “Hi, this is Brian’s Appliance Center. How can we help you today?”

  • A human can then jump in and continue the conversation.

5. Enable the Schedule

  • Review your timeframe, days, and message.

  • Scroll up and click Enable Schedule.

  • Hit Enable to activate your AI schedule.

Best Practices

  • Use the AI 24/7 unless you have a staffed sales team during business hours.

  • Always send at least one initial text when AI is off, so leads feel acknowledged.

  • Use Human Takeover (Expert Plan) for maximum flexibility.
